American Gold Buffalo Coin
The American 1 oz Gold Buffalo issued in 2006 was the first .9999 fine Gold bullion coin from the U.S. Mint. It contains one full troy ounce of .9999 fine gold. The obverse is a spin of the classic American Indian design by James Earle Fraser found on the Buffalo Nickel. The reverse shows an American buffalo, specifically of a bison named Black Diamond who lived at New York City's Central Park Zoo in the early 1900s. Below the bison appears the weight, purity and denomination.
